OUR MISSION

Scott's dedication and service for military members and veterans is long-standing, beginning locally in 2013 when he was pivotal in the creation of  Northwestern Michigan College's Military & Veterans Services, where he served as their POC for 9 years. Under his guidance and leadership, NMC was recognized by Military Times as the second most military-friendly college in the country. During this time, Scott was pivotal in the creation of the TC Patriot Game, served as Chair for the Veteran Community Action team from 2017 to 2020, and was the Best Practices Chair for the consortium of Michigan Veteran Educators from 2013 to 2019.  This all led to the creation of Charlie Golf One. 

Scott currently runs Folgarelli's Catering and is involved in a number of other activities that support veterans, military members, and their families.  He lives in Traverse City with his wife, Jaime, and is the proud father of three boys.

Liz Belt is a small business owner in Traverse City with a strong passion toward coaching individuals in their health and fitness goals. As a 12 year veteran and 2 time combat vet, her goal with CG1 is to assist Veterans who are truly in need.  As someone who understands the difficulty of transitioning back into civilian life after active duty, her heart is set on finding those in need and steering them in the right direction.  CG1 gives Liz a sense of purpose in creating inclusive opportunities for those who have sacrificed so much for our Country.

Ed Tuttle is Operations Manager for the Traverse City Pit Spitters and Turtle Creek Stadium, overseeing daily operations and community engagement. He sees sports as a way to unite people and foster meaningful connections beyond the game.

Ed has diverse experience in security, sales, retail, IT, and transportation. A Flint, Michigan native, he values resilience, adaptability, and community growth. His background fuels his dedication to creating opportunities and serving regions. Through mentorship and speaking, he guides young adults to find passions, build confidence, and pursue careers.

Ed is passionate about supporting veterans, inspired by his family’s military service. He helps veterans transition to civilian life by connecting them with resources and careers. Through his work and community involvement, Ed is dedicated to strengthening individuals and communities.

When he's not at the ballpark, helping his community, or mentoring, Ed spends time with his family, learns new skills, and works on his home. He's a proud husband to Moira Tuttle and uncle to Viviano Jr. & Emersyn Garcia.

Byron Pettigrew is a dedicated community leader, entrepreneur, and the Treasurer of the Charlie Golf One Board of Directors. He brings extensive experience in nonprofit management and event planning. Byron also serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Central Day Care Center, a nonprofit early childhood education center in Traverse City.

In addition to his professional and volunteer leadership roles, Byron is deeply committed to supporting veterans and honoring their service. His drive to give back to those who have served is at the heart of his work with Charlie Golf One, where he helps create meaningful events and build strong community partnerships that celebrate and support our nation's heroes.

Byron is the owner of Forward Inking, a Traverse City-based business specializing in screen printing, signage, and promotional products. He lives in Traverse City with his wife, Sarah, and their two beautiful daughters, Cora and Brynn.

Originally from Middleburg, FL, Jason enlisted in the Coast Guard in October 1994 when he was just 17. He dedicated 26 years of active duty and retired in 2020 as an E8. His first unit was on the Coast Guard Cutter Forward, a 270 foot Medium Endurance Cutter where the crew made history by towing the Carnival cruise ship Celebration, which suffered an engine room fire and caused total power loss. After getting really lucky Jason received orders to a civilian Aviation A-School (Spartan School of Aeronautics), and graduated as an Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class. His first station was Air Station Clearwater, FL on Big Iron Sikorsky MH-60 helicopter performing Operation Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, a multi agency international drug interdiction cooperative. From there he was stationed at Air Station Sitka, AK; Aviation Logistics Center Elizabeth City, NC; Air Station Cape Cod, MA; and lastly Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) Jacksonville, FL. He lives with his wife and son in Traverse City

Drew is a 12-year U.S. military veteran and a committed public servant who brings mission-driven leadership, a community focus, and deep personal dedication to Charlie Golf One’s Board of Directors. His service experience shaped his belief in accountability, teamwork, and taking care of those who’ve worn the uniform—values he carries into every aspect of his work.

After his military career, Drew stayed committed to public service with the City of Traverse City, supporting community safety and operations. His veteran and municipal roles give him insight into veterans' challenges when transitioning to civilian life.

On the board, Drew focuses on organizational strategy, veteran outreach, and building partnerships to expand Charlie Golf One’s impact across Northern Michigan and beyond. He is driven by a simple yet powerful mission: ensuring that veterans receive the support, connection, and respect they deserve.

Drew is proud to serve an organization embodying his military values—brotherhood, integrity, and service—and remains committed to strengthening the veteran community through every Charlie Golf One initiative.

Kevin Dunklow has served clients in his hometown community since he started as a financial advisor in 2017. Prior to beginning as a financial advisor, he helped lead the Traverse City Police Department as Captain of Patrol. One of his biggest passions is to help others.

He has been on the board of Charlie Golf One for over 3 years and has loved every minute of it. He's dedicated to doing his part to give back to the Veterans who have put their life on the line for the freedoms he enjoys every day. He believes that if it weren’t for our Veterans, the United States of America would not be the country it is today. 

John serves as the Secretary of the Charlie Golf One Board, bringing more than 20 years of leadership, operational expertise, and strategic oversight. He is also the Operations Manager at Traverse Outdoor, applying his logistics, leadership, and project management skills to ensure regional success.

John’s operations career spans a range of management roles. In his previous role, he was a Project Manager in custom homebuilding and excavation, managing complex logistics and timelines. He also served as Service Manager at a Harley-Davidson dealership, optimizing workflows, managing technical teams, and improving customer service.

Before transitioning to the private sector, John served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 2002 to 2009, directing operations in the Caribbean and on the Great Lakes. His military background fostered a commitment to risk management, discipline, and leadership, shaping his approach to board governance.

Deeply committed to civic service and community development, John is an active local Rotarian. He supports local youth athletics and follows his 17-year-old son’s teams at Elk Rapids High School. As an outdoorsman, John is a competitive three-handicap golfer and spends his off-season hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family.

Donald J.S. Alexandre II served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, first as a fighter pilot and later as a cyber warfare officer, drawing on his degree in computer engineering, earned cum laude from California State University, Long Beach. He continues to serve today as a Major in the Air Force Reserve. Military life has been his whole life: raised an Army brat and the son of a Vietnam-era Army Ranger, Don grew up in Germany, England, Italy, and Texas before his family settled in California when he was fifteen.

Traverse City came to him by way of his wife, Sarah (née Norconk), who was born and raised here. Together they founded and own Great Lakes Cybersecurity, where Don works as a cyber defense and security consultant across air, land, sea, space, and the cyberspace domain that connects them all.

Don has volunteered throughout his life, and joined the Charlie Golf One board this year to keep serving in a way that puts veterans first. He knows firsthand how jarring the shift can be from the pace and purpose of active duty to a civilian life that often feels slower and less defined. He is focused on fundraising, on applying his technical background to the organization's work, and on connecting local veterans with the services, benefits, and community that can make a real difference, whether the need is large or small.

Don and Sarah have been married fifteen years — though by his own accounting the pursuit started in 2008 and took three years of persistence before she agreed to be caught. They share a love of dogs, cooking, travel, beach days, and snow days. He still answers to his callsign, “Snoopy,” and his hobbies include continuous learning, teaching himself to cook, wrenching on his old truck, and still chasing his wife, which he has never stopped doing.
